Limanowski Dom Kultury is launching a cycle of sensory-friendly screenings called "Barrier-Free Cinema". The first showing will take place on Sunday, November 22, 2026, at 11:00 in the Kameralna Hall of Limanowski Dom Kultury in Limanowa. The cycle opens with the animated film "Hug Me. Honey Seekers".
This is the first Polish family animation in years. Based on the bestselling book by Przemysław Wechterowicz and Emilia Dziubak, it continues a series for young children. Organizers describe it as a warm story beloved by children.
The cycle is designed for people with disabilities and special sensory needs, including those on the autism spectrum and with sensory sensitivities. Hall conditions are adapted to their way of perceiving stimuli. Director Justyna Tokarczyk emphasizes that it should be a safe, comfortable, and quiet space. The cycle has an integrative character—a "meeting place where typically developing children and those with disabilities learn mutual acceptance, sensitivity, and shared cultural experience", as the director says.
Each screening in the cycle features:
- reduced sound level to prevent discomfort and overstimulation from loud audio,
- gentle lighting—slightly dimmed throughout the screening for easier movement and a sense of safety,
- no trailers or ads—the screening starts promptly with the film.
