Museums in Dąbrowa Tarnowska: 3 indoor places, from the Vistula Region Museum to a collection of agates and petrified trees and a memorial room.

Dąbrowa Tarnowska has three museums of very different character. All lie near the centre and work well on a wet day.

Which museums are in Dąbrowa Tarnowska?

The Museum of the Dąbrowa Vistula Region was founded in 1983 on the initiative of the Society of Friends of the Dąbrowa Land and is now housed in a former synagogue renovated in 2012, at ul. Berka Joselewicza 6. The Museum of Agates and Petrified Trees is a private venue opened in November 2005, with agates from Polish sites and from Argentina, Botswana, Czechia, Morocco and Germany. The third is the former synagogue with the Jewish Memorial Room at ul. Daszyńskiego 8, set in a private flat.

How do these museums differ?

From 2002 to 2012 the Vistula Region Museum worked at the Municipal Public Library at ul. Polna 13, before taking over the renovated synagogue. The agate collection includes specimens from Płóczki Górne, Nowy Kościół, Sokołowiec, Regulice and Rudno, among other sites, and the petrified trees come from Roztocze and Opole Silesia. The Memorial Room is the smallest, because it sits in the flat of a family that prayed there until 1995.
