About this event
The Charstek Culture Support Association organizes a concert "We Know Each Other from Folklore". Two friendly ensembles will perform together on stage:
- Song and Dance Ensemble Nowa Huta,
- Song and Dance Ensemble "Dobczyce".
The concert is part of annual meetings between artists and the public, themed around the sound, color, and energy rooted in Polish culture. Last year the ensembles performed together with "Ziemia Lisiecka". This time the program features selected pieces from the repertoire of another ensemble.
The Song and Dance Ensemble "Dobczyce" was founded in 2000 at the Municipal Cultural and Sports Center in Dobczyce. It consists of a dance-vocal group of over 100 people and a folk band. It includes mainly children and youth, but also adult dancers. The ensemble's repertoire includes Polish national dances (polonaise, mazurka, kujawiak, oberek, krakowiak), dance-vocal suites (from Lublin, Kurpie, Silesia, Rzeszów, Łowicz, and songs and dances of eastern Krakovians), as well as folk melodies and songs. The artists perform throughout Poland and abroad, participating in major dance competitions and events in Poland, winning medals and top podium finishes.
The Song and Dance Ensemble "Nowa Huta" named after Anatol Kocyłowski has been active continuously since 1953 in Kraków and is one of the oldest amateur folklore ensembles in Poland. Its headquarters is at Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury (NCK). The ensemble has over 120 members: children, school and university students. It performs traditional songs and dances from several regions of Poland, including eastern Krakovians, Sądeccy Highlanders, Kurpie, Żywiec townspeople, Spiš, Silesia, and Lublin region. Its repertoire also includes Polish national dances: krakowiak, polonaise, mazurka, and kujawiak with oberek. The group regularly performs worldwide and participates in festivals. For its contribution to promoting folk culture, it has received numerous awards, including the "Deserving of Culture" Medal.
