"Crisis in the Charlatan Industry" is a performance based on the work of Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński. Two actors and two musicians take the stage. The creators begin with a question: how does time flow on Charlatan Street.
The story concerns an excluded man who wanders by chance through the alleyways of Kazimierz, the dark gateways of the Old Town, Kraków bars and dives. The starting point is an image of autumn at Planty: leaf-covered paths, orange streetlamps, and a figure in a long overcoat standing beneath a dimmed lamp. The titular Charlatans are Eccentrics, Intruders and Sorcerers, past and present. Some pass by pedestrians wordlessly during the day, while others rule the city completely and exclusively at night.
The performance combines several forms: it emerges from the borderland of cabaret, concert and poetic theatre. Songs will be heard including works by Marek Grechuty, Grzegorz Turnau and Włodzimierz Korcz, all in new arrangements. The creators plan to bend and break everyday time, taking audiences to places and people they don't know.
