"Selfie", or Love at First Click!

"Selfie" is a comedy about two neighbors from a large housing block struggling with loneliness. Brygida is a feisty single mother living with her daughter, while Gerard is a widowed father disappointed by women. Both cling to stereotypes until their adult children's romantic troubles force them to confront their own prejudices. Julia, Brygida's thirty-year-old daughter, has a bookshelf instead of a Facebook account and has never taken a selfie. Her dating attempts have failed despite her mother's efforts. Gerard believes his son deserves true love and wants to get him back into the dating scene before he's consumed by routine block life. When Gerard's paternal concern meets Brygida's determination, minor online misunderstandings spiral into comic chaos, where each like and photo triggers new mistakes. The play shows how easy it is to fall into the trap of prejudice and how difficult it is to escape without a good laugh. The action is full of twists as the worlds of online dating and block life collide.
