"I Don't Sleep at Night. Alice in the Land of Wonders" is a new production by Teatr Robotniczy im. Bolesława Barbackiego in Nowy Sącz. The text was written and directed by Marcin Piotrowiak, with Michał Kościuk as co-director. The performance tells the story of nights when sleep is impossible because thoughts won't let the mind rest. The protagonist's world begins to split between what is real and what is hidden deep within. Strange, tender and unsettling characters appear—as if they know the protagonist better than he knows himself. They guide him through places that resemble dreams, memories, and matters difficult to discuss during the day. The boundaries between childhood and adulthood, fear and love blur and intermingle. Sometimes there is laughter, sometimes silence, and sometimes something that cannot be named. It is also a story about seeking home—not necessarily where one usually looks for it—and about an encounter that can only happen when you truly pause for a moment.
