"The Next Morning"

"The Next Morning" is a play by Peter Quilter. The production and set design were created by Piotr Wiśniewski. The comedy explores intimacy, shame, and the need for open conversation, showing that human nature should not be a cause for embarrassment. A young couple wakes up in the morning after an unexpectedly spent night together. The situation becomes complicated when the girl's mother appears—a free-spirited hippie. Her presence triggers a cascade of comic situations, and the shame-ridden boy must confront his own prejudices. The meeting of the young couple with the eccentric mother is a comedic clash of generations. The play convinces us that shame often unnecessarily governs people, and openness can bring relief and understanding. Despite its serious themes, this is primarily a light comedy.
