"Lachtara. Longing" is a film about the meeting of a Greek father and his son from Poland (half-Greek). Both are at a turning point in their lives. After years, they see each other in Athens to sell the family apartment in Wałbrzychu following the death of the former wife and mother.
They are united by a shared loss, but divided by temperaments, languages, and unspoken grievances. The tension is often relieved by unexpected humor, irony, and rough masculine tenderness.
Circumstances force them into a joint journey in an old Polonez to Poland. The route follows the trail of Greeks fleeing the civil war in 1949. Traveling through Europe, in the shadow of contemporary migrations, they try to make up for lost time and learn to be together anew: sometimes awkwardly, sometimes amusingly, more often painfully.
For the son, it is a belated lesson in masculine courage and the history of Greek emigration in Poland. For the father, it is a lesson in responsibility, humility, and closeness, which he was never able to allow himself before.
Screening on November 6, 2026 at 6:15 PM at Małopolskie Centrum Kultury SOKÓŁ in Nowy Sącz (Sala im. Zofii Rysiówny, studio hall). In case of event cancellation, refunds are processed automatically.
