"Love Like It's the Last Time" is a play from the Love Stories series, produced by Teatr Garnizon Sztuki based on a text by Jeff Gould. Directed by Ewa Konstancja Bułhak.
The protagonists are Cal and Beth, a married couple with nearly twenty years together, who have put their house up for sale. Beth did this by hanging a "For Sale" sign in the garden. Cal is happy in this house and doesn't want to move. They are visited by newly engaged Ellie and Skip, and later joined by Liz and Mike, a couple who after forty years together have little left to say to each other. The visit takes an unexpected turn when the couples notice that something connects them, and the meeting is no accident. The atmosphere thickens and the situation spirals out of control.
Teatr Garnizon Sztuki wants to give audiences space to pause and reflect on what truly matters in a world full of divisions, haste, and noise. The play aims to remind us that the foundation of lasting feelings is built on small gestures, simple words, and seemingly trivial moments. The director says: "Jeff Gould's witty text allows us to look at our relationships with distance and a wink. It also reminds us that a relationship is a process in which we must allow ourselves to make mistakes—because they teach us and help us mature." Psychologist and journalist Małgorzata Ohme once heard from her grandmother: "You never know if you're loving for the last time, but do everything to make it so..." This statement speaks of the courage to enter a relationship without reservation and that intimacy is worth fighting for every day.
