About this event
The Vienna Concert "In the Land of Czardas" (Captivating Gypsy Songs) is a music and dance program featuring: Agata Sava - mezzo-soprano, Maryjan Lomaha - solo violin, Nazar Tatsyshyn - tenor, Woytek Mrozek - conductor, classical ballet dancers, and the Royal Chamber Orchestra. The concert is a musical journey beginning in Old Vienna, gradually revealing the fascinations of Strauss, Lehár, and Kálmán with Romani folklore. In the second part, audiences travel with a Gypsy caravan through various European countries and cultures, including Austria, Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Balkans, Spain, and Italy. The program features Maryjan Lomaha's violin paraphrases and fantasias, singing by Agata Sava and Nazar Tatsyshyn, and classical ballet dancing, accompanied by the Woytek Mrozek Chamber Orchestra, described by organizers as international and unique in Poland. Compositions by J. Strauss, F. Lehár, I. Kálmán, F. Kreisler, V. Monti, J. Brahms, and G. Bizet will be performed, along with original paraphrases by Artur Banaszkiewicz and other musical surprises. Agata Sava is a Polish mezzo-soprano, soloist at the Prague Opera, graduated with distinction from Hochschule für Musik in Munich, and has performed at venues including Chicago Philharmonic Hall, the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, and Lucerne Concert Hall. Maryjan Lomaha is a violinist, composer, and arranger who, alongside classical repertoire, presents his own arrangements inspired by Roby Lakatos' works and paraphrases of famous pieces including "Viva Strauss!", Czardases, "Fiddler on the Roof", "Hava Nagila", and "Play me a Beautiful Gypsy Song".
