A concert combining two 20th-century works: George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" and Astor Piazzolla's "Four Seasons in Buenos Aires". The organizers describe the evening as a meeting of American jazz and Argentine tango.
Program:
- George Gershwin, "Rhapsody in Blue" - performed by Tomasz Marut (piano)
- Astor Piazzolla, "Four Seasons in Buenos Aires" - performed by Orkiestra Kameralna Kawalera de Saint-George, with soloist Roksana Kwaśnikowska (violin)
The concert opens with "Rhapsody in Blue", a work combining symphonic music with jazz, from which a new genre, symphonic jazz, emerged. The second part will transport listeners to Buenos Aires. Piazzolla's cycle is a tribute to this city. The composer combined traditional tango melodies with elements of classical music and jazz. Orkiestra Kameralna Kawalera de Saint-George has been active since 2017. It was founded by Jacek Marcinów and Radosław Droń and brings together young musicians. The ensemble has performed in concert halls in Paris and Île-de-France.
