"Freddie Mercury Rock-Operowo"

A concert featuring Queen frontman Freddie Mercury's songs arranged for opera singers and string quartet. Italian opera artists and a classical string quartet from the Opera da Camera di Roma association perform this unique production on February 20, 2027 at 8:00 PM at Royal Chopin Hall in Kraków. The concerts evoke 19th-century salon performances when classical music was considered entertainment, taking place in historic halls and palaces across Poland. Alongside Mercury's compositions, works by G. F. Händel will be featured, alongside traditional Hindu music arranged for string quartet, reflecting Mercury's heritage. The organizers compare Mercury to 18th-century star Farinelli, and highlight Mercury's own interest in opera singing, exemplified by his collaboration with opera singer Montserrat Caballé. This concert draws from the "Freddie Mercury Rock-Operowo" project that premiered in 2013 at Teatr Słowackiego in Kraków. The project has toured European stages and now forms part of a 2025 European tour covering Berlin, Rome, Paris, Milan, Prague, and Vienna. Queen's songs will be performed in a chamber, acoustic version by candlelight with new arrangements. This is the first such concert in Poland.
