About this event
A play directed by Mikita Iłynczyk, who also wrote the text. Premiering November 6, 2026 at Nowa Scena, ul. Jagiellońskiego 1. The work is a subversive sequel to Sławomira Mrożka's cult drama. It asks what happens when Poland ceases to be a country of emigration and becomes a country of return.
On stage are not Poles leaving for America, but grandchildren of former emigrants arriving at a mobile assimilation capsule. One character came from Chicago, another from Grodno. Both are Polish and both try to prove they have the right to stay. New Poland bears no resemblance to Mrożka's dramatic world. It is not an impoverished East dreaming of the West, but a center of the world to which descendants of emigrants, refugees, exiles, and those who once left for bread are returning.
The capsule is simultaneously a micro-apartment, border, assimilation center, workplace, church, livestream studio, and the last form of community. In a world of permanent relocation and digital surveillance, the characters learn new Polishness: how to speak, sleep, work, and love, and how to pass the exam of being "at home." The play explores post-turning-point Europe, loneliness, the economy of fear, and the new religion of the internet. It speaks of a society that, trying to protect its own paradise, begins building its regulations. It poses the question: can a shared paradise be built in a world founded on others' fear, exhaustion, and escape?
