APKHAZETI Georgian National Ballet with Choir and Orchestra

The Georgian State Ballet APKHAZETI will perform with a live choir and orchestra. The spectacle combines tradition with modernity, with dance as its primary means of expression. The performance transcends the framework of a classical concert. The ensemble was founded in 1931. For nearly a hundred years, its artists have performed worldwide, showcasing Georgian tradition. In 1992, due to the war in Abkhazia, the ensemble's activities were forcibly relocated to Tbilisi, yet APKHAZETI remained on stage. In 2021, Bakhana Khanturi became artistic director. He gave the ensemble a new direction: combining traditional folklore with contemporary dance and original music by leading Georgian composers. The result of these changes is the spectacle "Choreonicon". Traditional musical motifs gain new resonance through the live orchestra, while dance tells Georgian stories and emotions. On stage, we will see dance arrangements from different regions of Georgia, with acrobatic elements. The male parts are characterized by strength and dynamism, while the female parts showcase subtlety and elegance. The production is enhanced by the orchestra, choir, and colorful costumes. The spectacle's formula combines ethnicity, ballet, and modernity.
