About this event
"100 Years of Polish Song" is a vocal and dance program celebrating the richness and diversity of Polish music from the 1920s to 2000. The program consists of a series of musical performances showcasing the greatest hits and iconic songs from each decade. The program begins with the 1920s atmosphere, characterized by jazz rhythms, dance melodies, and cheerful lyrics, with performers in stylized costumes presenting popular songs like "Sexapil" and "Ja się boje sama spać". It then moves to the 1930s, featuring romantic ballads and dance rhythms, with artists in elegant attire performing pieces such as "Tango Milonga" and "Nie kochać w taka noc". Subsequent decades—the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s—are presented as medleys or thematic blocks, showcasing various styles and genres popular in those periods, including hits like "Już nigdy" (1940s), "Złoty pierścionek" (1950s), "Chłopiec z gitarą" (1960s), and "Staruszek świat" (1970s). The program continues through the 1980s and 1990s, concluding in 2000, featuring pop, rock, and dance sounds that became part of Polish music history. Performers present songs such as "Sing sing" (1980s) and "Kocham cię życie", among many others. The program uses diverse costumes and choreography to capture the atmosphere of each decade. "100 Years of Polish Song" aims to evoke memories and honor Polish music and the artists who contributed to its development and popularity over the years.
