Ethnographic open-air museum in Łosie, a branch of the museum in Gorlice, devoted to maziarstwo, the trade in tar and lubricants.
The Maziarska Farmstead in Łosie is an ethnographic open-air museum, a branch of the Karwacjan and Gładysz Manor Houses Museum in Gorlice. It shows the history of maziarstwo, that is the trade in tar and lubricants (maź), in which the inhabitants of this Lemko village engaged in the past.
The farmstead documents the tradition of the maziarze, an occupation that shaped life in Łosie. The open-air museum is in the village of Łosie in the municipality of Ropa, in Gorlice County, at Łosie 34. The museum is linked organisationally with the tserkva (wooden Eastern-rite church) in Bartne, mentioned in the name of the branch's website.
The sources we reached do not give details of the layout of the farmstead, a list of buildings or the dates of the museum's founding, so we do not describe them here.
It is about 6 km to the Open-Air Museum of the Pogórze Village in Szymbark, and about 8 km to the tserkva in Owczary. Lake Klimkówka is also close.
