About Synagogue in Krzeszowice (Wąska 4)

A ruined synagogue from the end of the 19th century in Krzeszowice, a former prayer house for men.

The synagogue at Wąska 4 in Krzeszowice is a damaged brick building from the end of the 19th century, which served as a prayer house for men. The interior is now in ruins, and part of the decoration has survived on the outside.

A prayer house for men

The synagogue was built at the end of the 19th century as a prayer house intended only for men. It has a rectangular plan, and its windows with semicircular tops can still be seen. Women prayed in a second building at Wąska 1, described in a separate entry: Synagogue in Krzeszowice (Wąska 1).

After the war

During the Second World War the Germans devastated the interior. After the war the building was adapted as a warehouse, and at the beginning of the 21st century a cultural centre operated in it, where film screenings and concerts were held. The interior is now in ruins.
