About Synagogue of Chana and Abraham Lednitzer in Kraków

A small synagogue from 1907 at ul. Mostowa 8 in Kraków's Kazimierz, built to a design by Beniamin Torbe.

The Synagogue of Chana and Abraham Lednitzer stands in the courtyard of a tenement house at ulica Mostowa 8 in Kraków's Kazimierz. It is a small private synagogue from the early 20th century, today no longer serving a religious function.

History

It was built in 1907 on the initiative of the couple Chana and Abraham Lednitzer, to a design by the architect Beniamin Torbe. During the Second World War the Germans devastated its interior. Since the war the building has been used for purposes other than its original one.

The building

The synagogue is of brick, built on a rectangular plan. Part of the exterior decoration has survived, including semicircular-headed windows. The interiors are not used for prayer today, and the sources do not say whether and when the building can be seen from inside.

Practical information
