Anshei Emes Synagogue in Kęty

ul. Krakowska 2, Kęty
About Anshei Emes Synagogue in Kęty

A synagogue from around 1900 at ul. Krakowska 2, with a surviving frieze, now the seat of a private company.

The Anshei Emes Synagogue, that is the "Men of Truth", stands in Kęty at ul. Krakowska 2. It was built around 1900 on the initiative of an association of that name. Today the building is not used for worship, and inside is the seat of a private company.

History and condition of the building

During the Second World War the Germans devastated the interior of the synagogue. The brick building was erected on a rectangular plan and covered with a gable roof. Of the original exterior decoration only an ornamental frieze running under the top of the walls has survived, and most of the window openings were bricked up.

Practical information

  • Address: ul. Krakowska 2, Kęty.
  • The building is used by a company, so it can be viewed only from the outside. Rules of entry to the inside were not found in the sources.
  • A few dozen metres away is the Aleksander Kłosiński Museum in Kęty, which is worth checking on a visit to the town.
