A PTTK mountain hut at 1,061 m in the Jaworzyna Range, with no permanent mains electricity and four access trails.
The PTTK mountain hut on Hala Łabowska stands at an altitude of 1,061 m above sea level in the Sącz Beskids, in the central part of the Jaworzyna Range. It is surrounded by the Poprad Landscape Park, and three nature reserves lie nearby. The hut has no permanent connection to the electricity grid.
The story began in 1953, when the Nowy Sącz branch of PTTK built a shelter with a small room and a kitchen on the extensive mountain meadow. A few years later the building was extended by two rooms and could take 40 people. A further extension in 1973-1980 gave the building roughly its present appearance. In 1995 the hut was named after Władysław Stendera, for many years president of the “Beskid” branch of PTTK in Nowy Sącz and the main initiator of the hut's creation.
According to the hut's website four trails lead here. The red trail, the Main Beskid Trail, arrives from Rytro and from Jaworzyna Krynicka. A blue trail starts in Łabowa, another blue one in Piwniczna-Zdrój, and the yellow one in Łomnica-Zdrój. Walking times are given on the hut's website. From the hut's surroundings it is easy to reach the Łabowiec reserve, about a kilometre away, and another hut in this part of the Beskids is the PTTK Shepherds' Hut above Wierchomla.
The hut is open all year and, according to the official website, serves walkers, cyclists, skiers and tourists with dogs. Beside it stand information boards and a spring with water. Electricity is available only during the hours the generator runs, so for an overnight stay it is worth taking a torch and a power bank. The kitchen works daily during the hours given on the hut's website.
