Nursing History Salon of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum

Kopernika 25, Kraków, Kraków
About Nursing History Salon of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum

An exhibition of documents, uniforms and nurses' memorabilia in the former school at ul. Kopernika 25.

The Nursing History Salon is a permanent exhibition of the Institute of Nursing and Midwifery of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum at ul. Kopernika 25 in Kraków. It is housed in a renovated room, a salon, in the building where the University School of Nursing operated in 1925-1950.

What to see

The collections include original documents, chronicles, minutes, photographs, portraits, albums and letters, as well as textbooks and journals for nurses. On show are uniforms, decorations and furniture from the 1930s and 1940s, and memorabilia of the pioneers of the profession, including the piano and gramophone records of Maria Epstein.

The interior and its history

The exhibition fills a historic room that served the nursing school. A visit is more like a small-scale call at an institute than entry to a museum with a ticket office and fixed hours.
