Entertainment in Lesser Poland: over 100 places, from escape rooms in the Old Town to paintball and go-karts in the Tatras. Pick something for a night out.
This page is for groups of friends, couples, families with teenagers and companies looking for shared fun: an hour-long escape room, a game of bowling after work, go-karts or a paintball match outside the city. More than 30 places are in Kraków, but plenty also lie in Tarnów, Zakopane and Nowy Sącz and in smaller places near the cities. Museums and sport and recreation are described separately, while here we gather group fun.
What entertainment is there in Lesser Poland?
The largest group is paintball (over 40 places), followed by escape rooms and bowling alleys, 19 in each group, and go-kart tracks, of which there are 15. There are also mini golf, a golf course and an outdoor city game.
In practice the choice looks like this: in town you are more likely to find escape rooms and bowling alleys, while paintball fields and large go-kart tracks usually lie on the outskirts or outside the city. In the mountains around Zakopane the entertainment is made for tourists with a free afternoon after coming off the trail. All places carry the rainy-day tag, but paintball fields often operate in the open air, so check the conditions with the organiser before you travel. The full set for the regional capital is on entertainment in Kraków.
Where in Kraków can you play an escape room?
The Old Town and Kazimierz have the largest cluster of puzzle rooms in the region. Many sit in townhouse cellars a few minutes' walk from the Main Square, so they are easy to fit into an evening after sightseeing.
On Floriańska Street are the Exit Room at number 18 and the Dom Strachu, or Lost Souls Alley at number 6, an interactive haunted house with escape room elements. At Grodzka 31 stands Escape room Wawel, at Długa 30 Escape DaVinci with the theme of Leonardo da Vinci's workshop, and at Karmelicka 44 the Scary Hostel with six rooms of horror and crime themes. Fear Factory on Westerplatte Street is a horror game played in the dark in a townhouse cellar. In Kazimierz at Skawińska 13 you will find Locked Up with four games of 60 minutes each, and at Łobzowska 4 Lock & Roll. In Podgórze you can play Escape Crow at Janowa Wola 2, and in Zwierzyniec Gamescape at Kościuszki 74, with eight rooms. Mystery Machinery at Zwierzyniecka 30 combines escape rooms in one entertainment centre. If you prefer a game in the open air, choose Moonstreet, a city game on the streets of Kraków starting at Basztowa 9. All places with this tag are on escape rooms in Lesser Poland.
Outside Kraków puzzle rooms are in Zakopane, where Let Me Out operates at Kościuszki 3, in Nowy Sącz, where ShareLocked was the first in the city, and in Andrychów and Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, where both the SherLOCK Andrychów and SherLOCK Kalwaria branches are run by the same team.
Where in Lesser Poland can you play paintball and laser tag?
Paintball is the most common form of team entertainment in the region: over 40 fields, from Kraków districts to villages below the Gorce. You usually play in open terrain with obstacles, under the eye of instructors, and organisers take company, school and private groups.
In Kraków itself fields are run by the Paintball Unit Zakrzówek on Świętego Jacka Street, Paintball Center at Jodłowa 46 between the Kościuszko Mound and the Wolski Forest, Paintball Arena Outdoor on Prokocimska Street, LeciKulka in Bieżanów-Prokocim and Interskills Paintball on Kobierzyńska Street. If you want a pellet-free version, check Laserpark in Prądnik Czerwony, a laser tag arena. Just outside the city are CK-Point and Paintball Małopolska in Brzegi and ACTIVE Paintball in Prusy, and near Zator Paintball Zator in Rudze, close to Energylandia.
Under the Tatras fields operate in Kościelisko (PAINTDOO), on Gubałówka (PaintMe), on the border of Zakopane and Poronin (Paintball XXL), in Bukowina Tatrzańska (Interskills) and in Sierockie (Havoc). Around Nowy Sącz you can play in Marcinkowice, in Gołkowice Górne and in Bartkowa-Posadowa, and in the city itself at LaserShot in the cellar of a historic building, about 150 metres from the town hall. All fields are collected on paintball in Lesser Poland, and for Kraków on paintball in Kraków.
Where can you go bowling?
Bowling alleys in Lesser Poland are usually whole entertainment centres with a bar, billiards and a games area, so they suit an evening with a larger group. In Kraków the biggest are Hala Centralna Bowling & Food in Czyżyny, with fourteen lanes, and Bowling House in Podgórze with twelve lanes in an air-conditioned interior.
In Kazimierz at Plac Nowy 1 is Bowling Plac Nowy 1 in cellars with an industrial interior. In Tarnów choose the Kwazar Bowling Club at Aleja Tarnowskich 69, at the foot of St Martin's Hill, or the Municipal Sports House on Traugutta Street. In Nowy Sącz bowling is at the Magnum Bowling Club in a hotel at Limanowskiego 1. Smaller towns have their own alleys too: Kula Hula in Oświęcim, Alibi in Dąbrowa Tarnowska, Red Bowling Club in Krzeszowice, Szklarnia in Gołkowice Dolne with four lanes and La Gondola in Olszyny with two lanes next to a pizzeria. In Białka Tatrzańska there is Bania Bowling in a hotel complex beside the Terma Bania, and in Osiek the Klub alter Molo with bowling and billiards. The full overview is on bowling in Lesser Poland.
Where can you drive go-karts and drift cars?
Go-karts are often indoors, so a drive does not depend on the weather, which is their biggest advantage in colder months. It is best to choose a track that suits the group: an indoor one for a short drive after work, a larger one for a race between friends.
In Kraków there are the GO Karting Center in Rybitwy, with a 360-metre track in a heated building, the Karting Arena at Legnicka 5, Motodrom in Podgórze and WRT Karting near Nowa Huta. The seasonal BRONO Racing Park operates on the roof of Galeria Bronowice in the open air. For drift fans there is Factory Drift in Dębniki, where you drive electric vehicles without exhaust fumes or noise. Near Kraków you will find the indoor Racing Kart in Sulechów. Tarnów has three tracks: Daytona, 420 metres long, at Kochanowskiego 39, Speed Race at Kochanowskiego 30 and Drift Park Extreme with a drift track in a hall. In the mountains, check the go-karts in Białka Tatrzańska by the Kotelnica car park, also for children, and Beskid Active Zone in Stronie with a karting track and a paintball field. Everything is collected on go-karts in Lesser Poland.
What else is there besides bowling, paintball and go-karts?
For those who prefer less intense fun there are calmer places: mini golf, golf and sports halls. They suit couples and families with older children.
Cosmic Minigolf at Karmelicka 50 is mini golf in a space setting with nine holes, a few minutes from the Old Town. Royal Kraków Golf in Ochmanów, about 18 km from the centre of Kraków, covers 43 hectares of hilly terrain between Wieliczka and Niepołomice. In Tarnów the sports hall Municipal Sports House offers bowling in a refurbished building. More sports offers are on sports attractions in Lesser Poland. For younger children attractions for children works better, and when it rains see rainy-day attractions.
What is there to do in Tarnów, Nowy Sącz and Zakopane?
Outside Kraków the largest clusters of entertainment are in Tarnów (7 places), Zakopane and Nowy Sącz (6 each). Each of these towns has a different character, so it pays to match the destination to how you spend your trip.
Tarnów is a motorsport town in miniature: three go-kart and drift tracks (Daytona, Speed Race and Drift Park Extreme), plus the Kwazar bowling club and a sports hall with bowling. It is a good choice for a day when the whole group wants to race and the weather does not matter. Nowy Sącz is dominated by fun in cellars and hotels: ShareLocked, LaserShot and bowling at the Magnum Bowling Club, and further out of town paintball fields in Marcinkowice and Gołkowice Górne. In Zakopane entertainment usually rounds off a day in the mountains: the Let Me Out escape room in the centre, and paintball on Gubałówka and on the border with Poronin. Detailed overviews of these towns are on Tarnów, Nowy Sącz and entertainment in Zakopane.
How do you plan a group night out or party?
Match the fun to the number of people and the time you have: an escape room usually takes an hour and suits a few people, bowling and go-karts handle a bigger crew, and paintball requires a trip out of town and usually several hours. Book a date in advance, especially for Friday and Saturday.
A simple evening in Kraków: dinner in the Old Town, then an escape room on Floriańska or Karmelicka and finally bowling in Kazimierz at Plac Nowy. A weekend company plan: paintball outside Kraków and lunch in a nearby town. For a couple, mini golf at Cosmic and an escape room make a good choice, and for friends a go-kart race. In Zakopane combine paintball on Gubałówka with a visit to Zakopane, and for Tarnów and Nowy Sącz see the pages things to do in Tarnów and things to do in Nowy Sącz.
What suits beginners and children?
For beginners the easiest are bowling and mini golf, as they need no preparation or equipment of your own. For an escape room start with a room of lower difficulty, and for paintball wear old, comfortable clothes and ask the organiser about the minimum age.
With younger children go-karts in Białka Tatrzańska work well, as they take children too, as do bowling alleys with a restaurant, such as Hala Centralna. Moonstreet, a city game on the streets of Kraków, is marked as a suggestion for families. For teenagers, escape rooms with a puzzle theme rather than horror are good, for example DaVinci. Wider suggestions for children are in attractions for children in Lesser Poland.
