Modrzewie Nature Reserve

Kluszkowce
About Modrzewie Nature Reserve

A floristic reserve from 1959 in the Gorce, protecting an old stand of larches on the slopes of Lubań.

The Modrzewie nature reserve is a floristic reserve in Kluszkowce, in the Gorce, established in 1959 to protect stands of Polish larch. It covers about 10.7 ha in the lower part of the southern slopes of Lubań.

What the reserve protects

The subject of protection is an old stand of larch mixed with younger spruce and pine. According to the source the larches have features intermediate between Polish and European larch, so their species affiliation is hard to judge unambiguously. 162 species of vascular plants, 9 species of bryophytes and 8 species of lichens have been recorded here.

Location and trail

The reserve lies at 640-670 m above sea level, in the forests of the Krościenko Forest District. The "Modrzewie" nature and forest trail and the yellow trail from Kluszkowce to Lubań pass through its area. Next to it is the Za Modrzewie clearing.
