A forest reserve preserving remnants of primeval hornbeam forests with lime, and an educational trail with seven stops.
Las Lipowy Obrożyska is a forest nature reserve within the town of Muszyna, in Poprad Landscape Park and the Natura 2000 site “Ostoja Popradzka”. It protects a fragment of primeval Carpathian hornbeam forest with small-leaved lime.
The reserve was created in December 1957 on 35.54 ha, extended to 98.67 ha in 1983 and to the present 112.88 ha in 2017. It is surrounded by a buffer zone of 34.56 ha. The land belongs to the State Treasury and is managed by the Piwniczna Forest District. The 2017 protection plan places 100.50 ha under strict protection and 12.58 ha under active protection.
A marked nature trail with 7 stops and information boards has been laid out in the reserve. Walking it takes about 2.5 hours. After a visit to the forest you can go down into the town and see Muszyna Castle, less than a kilometre away.
