The largest reserve in the Niepołomice Forest, 28.51 ha of oak-hornbeam and riparian forest, a refuge for birds.
The Gibiel reserve in Kłaj municipality, in Wieliczka County, is the largest reserve in the Niepołomice Forest. It covers 28.51 ha and was established in 1961.
Protection covers a fragment of primeval forest: oak-hornbeam forests, including ones with a large share of elm, and riparian forests. Alder buckthorn, a partly protected species, grows here. The reserve lies in the Vistula Lowland.
It is a refuge for deer, wild boar and passerine birds, and a nesting place for the Ural owl, black stork and lesser spotted eagle. Together with neighbouring reserves such as Lipówka, Dębina, Długosz Królewski and Wiślisko Kobyle, it forms part of the Natura 2000 area Niepołomice Forest.
