A bronze bust of the painter with a bas-relief on the January Uprising, unveiled in 1903.
The Artur Grottger Monument is a bronze bust of the painter on a white plinth, standing in Kraków's Planty Park, next to the building of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts. Its author is the Paris-based sculptor Wacław Szymanowski.
The figure of Grottger is complemented by a bas-relief showing the painter brooding over the defeats of 1863, that is the January Uprising, which the artist commemorated in his drawing cycles.
The collection for the monument began in 1892, and a year later a committee was formed under Witold Pruszkowski. The funds raised were much smaller than planned, so the original plans were changed. The unveiling took place on 16 May 1903 in the presence of the mayor Józef Friedlein, the rector of the Jagiellonian University and professors of the academy of fine arts.
