A park of 1.44 ha in Zabłocie, created in 2018 on the site of a former railway station.
Park Stacja Wisła (Wisła Station Park) is a city park in Kraków's Zabłocie, covering 1.44 ha. It lies between the Bulwar Lotników Alianckich on the Vistula and Zabłocie Street, next to Kotlarski Bridge and the railway bridge on the central line. It was created on the site of a former railway station.
Kraków Wisła station was closed in 2002. Until 2016 the site served as an informal car park. Construction of the park began at the end of December 2016, and the official opening took place on 11 May 2018. The design was based on a concept by Michał Grzybowski and was prepared by the studio Projekt Zieleni.
The park is divided into twelve functional zones. They include a relaxation zone with a picnic area, a playground, a historical zone with a maze and a wildflower meadow. There is also an urban farm, that is, wooden crates with vegetables and herbs. There is an open-air stage with a dance floor, a bicycle car park and a multifunctional pavilion with catering and toilets. Rain gardens retain rainwater.
42 new trees were planted (lime trees, wych elms, aspens and willows), over a thousand shrubs and 25 thousand flowers, along with ornamental grasses and perennials.
The park won in the category of newly created green space in the competition for the best public space and was nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award 2019.
