A forest of about 16 hectares in the Bibiczanka valley, with a fragment of oak-hornbeam forest, former quarries, footbridges and playgrounds.
Witkowice Forest Park is a forest of about 16 hectares in the Bibiczanka valley, on the northern edge of Kraków in the Prądnik Biały district. The area stretches from the Witkowice Nowe estate to the boundary of Zielonki municipality, between ulica Bibicka, ulica Dożynkowa and ulica Witkowicka.
The park covers 15.8 ha, and since 2010 the area has been protected as the ecological site “Las w Witkowicach”. It has kept a fragment of oak-hornbeam forest on varied, undulating terrain. Many species of trees and shrubs grow here.
In the walls of the former quarries rock outcrops can be seen, where tectonic dislocations can be observed. For those interested in geology it is the most interesting element of the park.
There are footbridges across the Bibiczanka, playgrounds and information boards. A yellow cycle route runs along the valley, and the park lies on the yellow-black walking trail of the Kraków Fortress. After a visit you can go on to the Polish Aviation Museum in Kraków, a few kilometres away.
