A modernist office building from 1921, the former Polish Bazaar and seat of the press, today offices.
The Press Palace is an eight-storey building at the corner of Wielopole and Starowiślna streets. Despite its name it is not a palace to visit, but a modernist office building from 1921, on the heritage register.
The design was made by Tadeusz Stryjeński and Franciszek Mączyński. The building was constructed in 1920-1922 as a department store of the Polish Bazaar, with a reinforced concrete frame. It was later rebuilt as the seat of the "Ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny", and afterwards housed the editorial offices of Kraków newspapers, among them "Dziennik Polski", until October 2011.
The heritage register lists the brick structure and the modernist style, and descriptions of the building mention original installations, including central heating and electrical systems, and three street entrances with lifts.
Wikipedia states that the building is now rented by the ABB corporation. The interiors therefore serve as offices and are not open to visitors, but the façade can be viewed. It is close from here to the Main Market Square.
