About Ogiński and Potulicki Palace in Kraków

Brick palace from 1879 designed by Filip Pokutyński, rebuilt after the war and used by the archdiocesan seminary.

The Ogiński and Potulicki Palace stands at Piłsudskiego 4, in Kraków's Nowy Świat district. It was built in 1879 to a design by Filip Pokutyński as the town palace of both families.

History of the building

Later it housed the Kraków Equestrian Societies, and with them the Kraków Resursa and the Horse Casino. During the Second World War the palace was destroyed in a bombing raid. After the war the Archdiocese of Kraków, through the efforts of Cardinal Adam Stefan Sapieha, bought the ruins together with the plot and faithfully rebuilt the palace. First it housed the minor seminary, and then a second building of the Major Seminary of the Archdiocese of Kraków. The building is in the heritage register, and the brick building has the entry number 321.
