A museum combined with a stained glass workshop active since 1902, visited with a guide, with a gallery and workshops.
The Stained Glass Workshop and Museum is a Kraków cultural institution at al. Zygmunta Krasińskiego 23, combining a stained glass workshop that has operated since 1902 with a museum organised around it. It is housed in a historic tenement building near the Vistula.
The workshop was founded in 1902 as the Kraków Stained Glass Works S.G. Żeleński. According to the museum's website, works by the most outstanding Polish stained glass artists of the early 20th century were made in this workshop. Today it still operates and new works are made there.
A photo description on Wikimedia Commons indicates that the tenement building was designed in 1906 by Ludwik Wojtyczko, and that it is a monument of Art Nouveau architecture.
The museum presents works of Polish stained glass art. Besides the visit, there is a gallery with artists' works, and visitors can take part in stained glass workshops, jewellery classes and courses.
According to the museum's website, a visit takes place only with a guide, in a group of at least two people, and lasts 45 minutes. Tours are available in Polish and English. Hours given on the website: Tuesday to Friday 11:30-13:30 and 14:30-16:30, Saturday 10:00-17:00, closed on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays. Check them again before your visit.
Right next door, about 200 m away, stands the National Museum in Kraków, and less than a kilometre further the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi.
