A branch of the National Museum in Kraków in the Old Granary, with a permanent exhibition of works by Stanisław Wyspiański.
The Stanisław Wyspiański Museum is a biographical museum, a branch of the National Museum in Kraków. It is housed in the Old Granary building at plac gen. Władysława Sikorskiego 6, right by the Planty Park.
The permanent exhibition shows different sides of the work of Stanisław Wyspiański (1869-1907). According to the National Museum's website these are portraits of family members, pastel views from the studio window, furniture and interior designs, monumental sketches for stained glass and plans for the rebuilding of Wawel Hill.
The museum has more than 1,100 works by Wyspiański, as well as the artist's personal documents and the library inherited from him. Pastels on paper are fragile, so the display is periodically changed to protect the works. The same layout of the exhibition may therefore not look identical on successive visits.
The museum is in the centre, right next to the National Museum in Kraków (about 400 m) and the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi, and the Main Market Square is about 600 m away.
