A private beekeeping museum in Stróże with an open-air collection of over 100 hives and a bee-tree monument.
The Bogdan Szymusik Beekeeping Museum in Stróże in Nowy Sącz County is a private museum of an open-air type. It was founded in 2000, and its basis was the collection of hives of a Kraków beekeeper.
On the grounds there are two exhibitions: “Secrets of the Hive” about the life of bees and the making of honey, and “Bees and People” about the history of beekeeping and its tools, with a collection of publications from the 17th-19th centuries. The open-air collection has over 100 hives, including some shaped like a monk, a devil or a highlander cottage. The oldest date from 1822.
It is a 15-metre monument dedicated to the bee, in which a hive operates. It has been entered in the record register of the Society for the Control of Unusual Records.
On site there are an enclosure with animals, a honey school with workshops, a shop selling honey and a venue with a honey kitchen.
