About Parish Museum in Paszyn

A parish museum of folk art in Paszyn, a branch of the Diocesan Museum in Tarnów, with sculptures and paintings on sacred themes.

The Parish Museum in Paszyn, formally the Fr Edward Nitka Museum of Folk Art, operates at the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Nowy Sącz County. It is a branch of the Diocesan Museum in Tarnów and works closely with the Sącz Land Museum in Nowy Sącz.

What the collection holds

The exhibition consists of sculptures and paintings on sacred themes by folk artists. They include images of the Virgin Mary, the Pensive Christ (Chrystus Frasobliwy) and the Pietà, as well as biblical scenes, among them the Nativity, the Crucifixion and the flight into Egypt.

Folk art in the church

Works by folk artists also fill the parish church: the pulpit, the Stations of the Cross, the confessionals, the font and the candlesticks. The museum and the church are best seen together.
