About MICET Interactive Museum / Theatre Education Centre

An interactive museum in the medieval cellars of the Old Theatre, with thematic trails and theatre applications.

MICET is an interactive museum in the 13th-century cellars of the National Old Theatre in Kraków, opened in 2016. It is a new form of the Old Theatre Museum, which had existed since 1981, and operates as a separate exhibition with its own entrance from Jagiellońska Street.

What the exhibition is like

Instead of display cases there are small workshops full of props, books and fragments of stage sets. The visit follows five thematic trails: Freedom, Us/Them, Emotions, Body and New. Each combines educational content with practical exercises.

Part of the exhibition consists of theatre applications. You can record your own sketch on the MICET stage, build a scenographic mural from objects, make a sound remix or record an emotional message in the Virtual Actor app. The museum was created thanks to the Norway Grants and the EEA Grants, and national funds.
