The university pathomorphology museum of the Jagiellonian University on ul. Grzegórzecka, operating since 1831, with specimens in glass cabinets.
The Anatomopathological Museum of the Jagiellonian University Collegium Medicum is housed at ulica Grzegórzecka 16, in the Department of Pathomorphology, and is among the largest collections of its kind in Europe. It has operated since 1831, and the beginnings of the collection reach back to earlier years: an inventory in the Anatomical Cabinet dates from 1816.
The museum occupies two rooms preceded by a spacious vestibule. Valuable pathomorphological specimens are kept in glass cabinets and document the development of the medical sciences in Kraków. The collection was greatly enlarged by Prof. Maciej Józef Brodowicz, who commissioned wax dissection specimens.
It is a university museum and still serves the education of medical students, so the display is scientific rather than entertaining in character. The specimens show disease changes, which may be difficult for sensitive people.
It is not far from here to the centre: within a radius of about a kilometre lies, among other places, the Botanic Garden in Kraków.
