A former international trail from 1983, in Poland the Carpathian section from Chochołów to the Dukla Pass, today part of the E3 route.
The International Eisenach-Budapest Mountain Friendship Trail, EB for short, is a long-distance trail opened to international tourist traffic in 1983. It was created by the tourist organisations of East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland (PTTK) and Hungary. In Poland it had two sections: the Sudeten section from Jakuszyce to Boboszów and the Carpathian section from Chochołów to the Dukla Pass.
The Carpathian part begins in Chochołów and runs to the Dukla Pass on the border with Slovakia. In the Sącz Beskids the trail passes near Łomnica-Zdrój, and the waymarks are red. Along the route lies the PTTK mountain hut on Hala Łabowska.
After 1990 the trail ceased to exist under its former name and was incorporated into the route of the longer European long-distance path E3. On many tourist maps, however, it still appears as the Eisenach-Budapest Friendship Trail. For a hiker it is therefore a red mountain trail, which is worth checking on a current map when planning.
