A science centre in Czyżyny with the permanent exhibition “Człowiek i jego marzenia” (Humans and Their Dreams), laboratories, a park and a roof garden.
The Lesser Poland Science Centre Cogiteon is a cultural institution of Lesser Poland Voivodeship at Stefana Steca 1 in Kraków's Czyżyny district. Its mission is education through play: visitors experiment themselves, work in teams and carry out their own research. The building was handed over to the centre in April 2024, and the opening took place in June of that year.
The exhibition is titled “Człowiek i jego marzenia” (Humans and Their Dreams) and, according to the centre's website, has over 100 interactive stations on more than 2,200 square metres, in five rooms on level -1. Four questions guide visitors through it: what connects us, how the world works, how we change the Earth, and how you imagine it. The sections cover, among other things, the human body and health, communication and relations between people, space and nature, technology, energy and agriculture, and creativity, light and movement. The exhibition is geared towards independent experimenting; the centre recommends it from the age of 10, and younger children can come with an adult.
The offer also includes laboratories, workshops, the Children's Academy, the Emotions Zone, science shows and educational games. Around the building stretches a park of about 2 hectares with a “science playground”, and a roof garden with six types of meadow and a view of the Old Town. From the viewing platform you can watch the airport below.
