The parish church in Niegowić, built from 1949 to 1959, consecrated in 1966 by Bishop Karol Wojtyła.
The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Niegowić is a masonry parish church of the Niegowić deanery in the Archdiocese of Kraków. It was designed by the architect Bogdan Treter. It was consecrated in 1966 by Karol Wojtyła, then Bishop of Kraków.
The voivode issued the building permit on 3 August 1949, and the foundations were poured six days later. The foundation stone was blessed in 1954. The first services were held in the provisionally roofed church in December 1955. Building work ended in 1959, and the faithful were brought into the church on 20 December 1959.
The consecration took place on 25 September 1966, as part of the celebrations of the Millennium of Poland's Baptism. The old wooden church from 1771 was moved in 1973 to Mętków, and a copy of the bell tower, which stayed in Niegowić, was built next to it.
