Church of the Holy Cross in Nowy Sącz

Nowy Sącz
About Church of the Holy Cross in Nowy Sącz

The parish church of the parish of St Helena in Nowy Sącz, consecrated in 2006.

The Church of the Holy Cross stands in Nowy Sącz, in the Helena district, and serves as the parish church of the parish of St Helena. It is the main church of that parish.

Why it was built

Earlier the community used the older Church of St Helena, which served as a cemetery chapel. As the number of worshippers grew, according to Wikipedia to several thousand, it proved too small. On the initiative of the then parish priest, despite the reluctance of the authorities, a catechetical centre, a presbytery and a new church dedicated to the Holy Cross were built.

Consecration

The new church was consecrated on 24 September 2006 by Bishop Wiktor Skworc. The sources we have found do not describe its architecture or interior, so we give no details.
