About St Mary Magdalene's Church in Witkowice

A new parish church in Witkowice, built from 2001 to 2009, with a foundation stone from the Wawel crypts.

St Mary Magdalene's Church at Dożynkowa 35 is a new parish church in Witkowice, in the Prądnik Biały district. It is served by diocesan priests.

How it was built

The building plot was blessed in 2001 by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski. Foundation work took place in 2002-2003, and the foundation stone was laid on Easter Monday 2006. The stone came from the crypts of Wawel Cathedral. The first solemn Christmas Mass was held in the still unfinished church in 2007, and construction was completed in 2009.

Surroundings

The church lies in the north of the city, far from the Old Town, which is a few kilometres from Witkowice. If you are combining a visit with the centre, the nearest points are Planty Park and the Barbican.
