About Church of St Casimir the Prince in Tyniec

Postmodernist branch church from 1986-1990 in Tyniec, designed by Zbigniew Radziewanowski.

The Church of St Casimir the Prince in Tyniec is a post-war church at Podgórki Tynieckie 96 in Kraków's Dębniki district. It is a branch church of the parish in Tyniec, served by the Benedictine fathers.

Construction and appearance

The church was built in 1986-1990 to a design by Zbigniew Radziewanowski, in the postmodernist style. The furnishings are modest and rely mainly on wooden elements. A notable feature is a crucifix in which the figure of Christ is shown without the cross itself.

Not to be confused with other churches of this patron

In Kraków there are several churches dedicated to St Casimir. This one lies on the south-western edge of the city, in Tyniec, as opposed to the Baroque Reformed Franciscan church in the centre.
