A modernist parish church from the 1930s in Grzegórzki, designed by Franciszek Mączyński.
The Church of St Casimir the Prince stands at Grzegórzecka 78 in Grzegórzki and is a parish church. It was built in the 1930s, and its construction was supported by the residents of the district.
The parish of St Casimir was established on 27 January 1928. In 1926-1928 the Catholic House was built in Grzegórzki, and its large hall was converted into a temporary chapel. The first Mass was celebrated there on 8 December 1928, and the chapel served the residents of Grzegórzki and Dąbie.
In 1933 a public committee for the construction of the church was formed. The City Council donated a plot, and in spring 1934 building work began, with the district's residents also taking part.
The three-nave church was designed in the modernist spirit by Franciszek Mączyński. The still unfinished church was blessed in 1940 by Cardinal Adam Stefan Sapieha, as it was feared that the German occupation authorities would requisition the building. The consecration took place only after the war, on 26 September 1948, and was performed by Bishop Stanisław Rospond.
Among the parish's curates in 1958-1963 was Józef Tischner.
