A wooden parish church from 1917-1923 on the Wooden Architecture Route of Lesser Poland.
The Church of St Catherine of Alexandria in Wilkowisko is a wooden parish church in Jodłownik municipality, in Limanowa County. It stands on the Wooden Architecture Route of Lesser Poland.
The present church is the third on this spot: the previous one burnt down in the great fire of 28 January 1916. The new one was built in 1917-1923 and consecrated on 25 December 1923. It is a log-built structure, clad with horizontal boarding, in the Late Baroque style with Neo-Baroque elements. It has a single nave, a chancel with a three-sided end, a sacristy with a former patron's gallery on the upper floor, a side chapel, a porch and a tower.
The nave is covered by a wooden barrel vault, and the walls are lined with panelling. The main altar, with a Late Baroque painting of the Virgin Mary and St Catherine, comes from the old church in Limanowa. The three side altars of 1926-1935 were made by Antoni Wróbel, and the pulpit is Neo-Baroque, from 1926. The church was thoroughly renovated in 1997.
In the area lies, among others, the church in Jodłownik, and a little further the Cistercian abbey in Szczyrzyc.
