About Church of St Hedwig the Queen in Nowy Targ

Parish church in the Bór district of Nowy Targ, built from 1998 and consecrated in 2017.

The Church of St Hedwig the Queen stands in the Bór district of Nowy Targ and is the church of the parish of the same name. It is a young building: the site was blessed in 1998, and the church was consecrated in 2017.

Construction step by step

On 8 June 1998 Cardinal Franciszek Macharski blessed the building site. In 1998-2004 a presbytery was built, in whose cellar services were held. On 15 June 1999 the foundation stone was blessed by Pope John Paul II during a journey to Poland, and on 25 May 2002 it was set into the walls of the church together with the foundation act.

In November 2002 four bells were hung in the tower. The relics of St Hedwig the Queen were brought into the church in 2008, and the solemn consecration took place on 8 June 2017.

Design and furnishings

The author of the design is the architect Michał Kuczmiński. In the choir loft stands a 36-stop organ from 1986, installed in the church at the end of October 2020.
