About Church of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Nieczajna Górna

A parish church from 1981-1987 designed by Roman Łomnicki.

The Church of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Roman Catholic parish church in Nieczajna Górna in Dąbrowa County. It is a church from the 1980s, designed by Roman Łomnicki.

Construction of the church

The present church was built in 1981-1987. The foundation stone was blessed and laid on 19 September 1982 by the Bishop of Tarnów, Jerzy Ablewicz. The church was blessed and consecrated on 18 September 1987, and the rite was performed by Bishop Piotr Bednarczyk.

The mosaic in the chancel

The interior is distinguished by a mosaic on the altar wall. Its design and execution, like the Stations of the Cross, were by Józef Furdyna. It is the most recognisable element of the interior described in the sources.

The church is young, so do not look here for historic altars or medieval walls. It is a church for the local community, which fits well on a route around the neighbouring parishes.
