A postmodern parish church on the Kurdwanów Nowy estate, designed by Olgierd Krajewski.
The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross stands on the Kurdwanów Nowy estate in Kraków, in the Podgórze Duchackie district. It is a modern parish church designed by the architect Olgierd Krajewski. It was built in the postmodern style, which sets it apart from the historic churches of the Old Town and Kazimierz.
The idea of building on the newly emerging estate appeared in 1984. On Good Friday 1985 a cross was erected and blessed on the plot for the future church, and in January 1986 the district authorities gave permission to build. Actual work began only in 1989.
From 1993 the liturgy was celebrated in the main nave, still in a raw state. Finishing work was completed in 1998, and a year later the church received an organ. The construction was concluded by the blessing of three bells and by the consecration, performed on 31 December 2001 by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski.
