About Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bielany

A postmodern church of 1986-1988 in Bielany, with a façade resembling hands joined in prayer.

The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help stands at Księcia Józefa 176 in Bielany, in the Zwierzyniec district. It is a postmodern church of the 1980s, served by diocesan priests.

Construction

The need for a church arose in Bielany at the beginning of the 1980s, when the number of residents was growing and access to the existing parishes was limited. The church was built in 1986-1988 to a design by Stanisław Wasilewski, and it was consecrated in 1994 by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski.

Shape and interior

The church has a single nave and three altars, in the postmodern style. The shape of the façade is meant to symbolise hands joined in prayer. Inside hangs a faithful copy of the image of Blessed Bronisława from the Norbertine sisters' church in Zwierzyniec.
