A parish church in Poręba Wielka from 1981-1991, with a figure of Our Lady of Fátima brought from Fátima.
Our Lady of Fátima Church is the parish church in Poręba Wielka in Limanowa County, an example of modern sacred architecture. In the data the locality appears as Niedźwiedź, but the parish was separated from the Niedźwiedź parish precisely for Poręba Wielka.
The church was built between 1981 and 1991 for a new pastoral centre, separated from the parish in Niedźwiedź. It was solemnly consecrated on 20 October 1991 by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski. It is a rectangular building under a pitched gable roof, and a large concrete cross stands in front.
The main altar holds a small figure of Our Lady of Fátima, brought from Fátima and donated to the church by Cardinal Macharski. It stands against a mosaic by Bogumiła Drwal, showing a stylised oak crown with a halo. Among the furnishings are carved Stations of the Cross from 1993, the work of Jan Rapciak, a figure of Padre Pio and a marble font with a gilded cover.
Poręba Wielka has a Brine graduation tower, and roads lead from the village into the Gorce, including to the PTTK mountain hut on Maciejowa.
