Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Nowy Sącz is a masonry parish church from 1957-1961, belonging to the Nowy Sącz Wschód deanery of the Tarnów diocese. Attention is drawn by the sculptures of Bronisław Chromy in its interior.

Construction

The church was built to a design by the architect Tadeusz Brzoza. It was blessed on 6 October 1961 by the auxiliary bishop Karol Pękala. The building has three naves, is basilica-type, clad in stone, with one tower and three altars.

Sculptures by Bronisław Chromy

The interior was furnished by Witold Popławski and Bronisław Chromy. A Pietà carved by Chromy is placed on the altar wall. On both sides of the main nave stands a procession of Polish saints and blessed, also designed by Chromy and made by Stefan Borzęcki and Marian Kiełbasa. The font shows scenes from the first pilgrimage of John Paul II to Poland.
